Stalking, shooting and angling with a view
Argyll and The Kintyre Peninsula are revered as a mature sporting destination, offering visitors outstanding country sporting experiences amongst a stunning and dramatic landscape. Country sportsmen have long recognised these qualities and have been coming to the area to hunt, shoot and fish for well over a century, making The Village at Machrihanish Dunes the perfect place to call home whilst you’re discovering all that the Kintyre has to offer.
The area offers a number of sporting opportunities including game shooting of birds such as pigeons, pheasants, grouse and partridge; and stalking/hunting for deer, including roe, red and sika deer. The Kintyre region also offers outstanding fishing with sea and game angling popular in the area. For those looking to sharpen their shooting skills, clay pigeon shooting is also available whether you’re a beginner or skilled marksman.
We have sourced local sporting estates to provide country pursuits within an hour’s drive of The Village at Machrihanish Dunes. Deer stalking is guided by experienced stalkers with extensive local knowledge. Driven shooting for partridge and pheasant is available, as is rough shooting for pheasant, partridge duck, snipe and woodcock. Shooting and stalking are seasonal—for further information, click here [we will add a link to pages that show the seasons for various types on game here].
The Village at Machrihanish Dunes can make arrangements with local sporting estates and provide transport from the hotels to the estates. Lunches and refreshment can be provided.
